Beautiful Pastel Vintage Tablecloth and a Lemon Buttercream Recipe

Happy Memorial Day!! Today I wanted to share with you some photos of another favorite vintage tablecloth of mine. I love the pink with lime green colors!  Because I don't know how to get a decent shot of the entire tablecloth yet, I'm just showing pieces of it.

Today I made some pale green French Macarons with lemon buttercream (tinted pale green to match).  The buttercream that I used is a recipe from Warren Brown of CakeLove. It's an Italian Meringue Buttercream and I found the recipe here!

This buttercream recipe is my favorite for filling French Macarons. You can create any flavor you want, using this recipe as your base. For these macarons I added 1/2 cup lemon curd to the buttercream recipe. The flowers are Johnny Jump-ups that came from my garden. I created a mini cake stand by turning a teacup upside down and resting the saucer on top!

Warren makes it look so easy! Just click on the link to watch him make the buttercream.

I have tried both Italian Meringue Buttercream and Swiss Buttercream and I have found that the Italian holds up better for me.  Because I live in the south where it is hot and muggy most of the summer, I need a stable buttercream and this just works!  Happy long weekend!!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Pink Piccadilly Pastries! So glad you stopped by! My vision for this blog is that it be a place to share my creative menus and recipes while showcasing my collection of vintage floral tablecloths from the 1940's and 1950's.  I LOVE these tablecloths because they are so cheerful! Just looking at them makes me happy! When I look at one of my tablecloths, suddenly menus start to form in my mind. For instance, this tablecloth inspired me to create french macarons in pink and red to match.
After I made the french macarons, I wanted a quick filling, instead of the Italian Buttercream that I usually fill these cookies with. I found a Wonderful recipe for Raspberry Buttercream here!
It is sooo good and tart, and really complements the almond nicely.  Please, take one! We'll talk more about french macarons later! I am just beginning to learn how to take good photos, and find that I have a lot to learn!! I am really excited about sharing my ideas with you and hope you will stop by again really soon to see what's on the menu!
